Locating an Interpreter
Obtaining a SLINC Interpreter Directory
SLINC produces a directory of members who are available to work as freelance (contracted) interpreters. Assignment requirements, fees, working conditions, etc. are to be discussed with the interpreter(s) directly. To obtain a SLINC directory of interpreters, contact dircmte@slinc.ca.
The following agencies and businesses provide interpreting services in the Ottawa and surrounding areas.
Sign Language Interpreting Associates Ottawa Inc.(SLIAO) provides English-ASL Sign Language interpreting service for federal, provincial and municipal government organizations, businesses, unions, community organizations and the courts. All of the interpreters who work with SLIAO are members of the Association of Visual Language Interpreters of Canada-AVLIC. Details and contact information are available at SLIAO .
Connecting Communities Interpreting Services Inc. (CCIS) coordinates and provides quality interpreting services in predominantly post-secondary educational environments. Our mission is based on a strong foundation of local community engagement, accessibility for all participants, professional ethical standards of proactice and a commitment to growth, development and change. All interpreters who work with CCIS are members of the Association of Visual Language Interpreters of Canada (AVLIC). For more information, please contact interpretingschedule@yahoo.ca .
The Canadian Hearing Society (CHS)is a provincial organization with regional offices across Ontario who provides interpreting services named Ontario Interpreting Services (OIS). OIS and CHS contact information is available on the website at CHS website.
